Get em Dana! lol

I do like Dana, but I think Dana is just using this opertunity to dirty EliteXC because they are the competition.

In TUF Dana openly offers fighters a bonus for a knockout which can also be seen as dictating how a fighter takes the fight on.

If he really is about MMA and not just the business then he should:-

Not force his fighters to only fight in UFC so the MMA world can see the best fighters actually fight each other (Example Catoure Vs Fedor).

Pay both fighters a fair purse and not have the outragous difference in purse (Example the money in Forrest Vs Shogun, despite Forrest winning, Shogun walked away more than double).

You have done good things for MMA Dana, but no you are not "whiter" than white (forgive the pun).

It's absolutely baffling how right Dana has been on everything about EliteXC and Affliction since they started up (except Fedor of course).

def have to agree with dana on this one

Dana right on, but he is also an hipocrite because he is in it for the money as well. He didnt kick off that asshole junie from his show even after the guy breaked a bottle on another guy and cutted him! If you want true fighting spirit go to japan and watch some of those fights.

Some people don't like Dana White, I don't see why. Sure, some people don't like his methods of business, but it works, and fighters do get paid okay. At least, I think he genuinely does care for the sport, look at what he as done for the sport with the UFC. And, I completely agree with what he says in the video.

Absolutely 100% correct..... and Im not a big Dana White fan but he is dead on with this.

GOOO DANA!!!! i really dont get why people hate him. He's smart, he knows the mma business, and Elite XC sucks along with Kimbo. And yes it was illegal to pay seth to keep it standing.

Anonymous said...

Yeahhhh, Booooiiiyy!! You tell 'em Dana!

I hate Dana, but he's got a point.

However, UFC does not help MMA at all when sets fights for business reasons only.

Rampage didn't loose that fight (and title) to Forrest Griffin. We all know that.

But the weight class needed some excitment, huh? Now we've got Rampage vs Silva 3, and Griffin about to get his ass kicked. And then another title macht...

And what about the heavy weights? It's just absurd to put Lesnar against Couture. There were better fighters on the line, including Mir and Big Nog, of course.

Not to mention the Lyoto Machida issue... It seems they do not want another brazilian holding a belt for now.

Less politics, more sports -- then UFC would do some good for MMA.

Anonymous said...

It's actually not very hard to be right on that issue, almost everyone is the same opinion (except shaw).

So Dana talks the talk, but does he walk the walk?
fmj fuck yeah ;)

I don't think he does. He has pretty much become an (bad) opportunist in the mma-world himself and therefor is quite a hypocrite. If he really were interested in the best fights happening (a belt between companies) and fair payments for all fighters (the money is there now), than he wouldn't be overprotecting his brand, pay McDonalds wages to undercard fighters or constantly talk shit about the established greats such as Fedor.

@antonio

Wow, people are STILL crying over Griffin vs Rampage?

People like you are ultimately going to be the downfall of MMA

No he doesn't. The bonus is for finishing a fight either by knockout OR submission. Huge difference.

People don't like Dana why? He is the man he just tell's it how it is. I respect that straight up, no pussy footing around. No wonder the UFC it as good it is now.

i dont really like dana too much, but like everyone says, he is right on this one. the thing people have to understand is, dana cares for his fighters even though he favors some over others. he is a business man, so expect him to do everything he can to make ratings and sales as well. he is a great promoter and please stop expecting him to do everything the fans want. it's only as far as he can go. it's a balance between what the fans want + revenue in order to keep the business growing.

as for the judging, dana has no control over that. the judges don't work for him as he has said before. it's judged by the nevada athletic commission? eg. the bisping and hamill fight was worst ever. he has said time and time again not to leave it in the hands of the judges. btw, rampage did lose to forrest, but how they scored it was bs. he didn't lose by that much because it should've been a closer fight.

"he is a great promoter and please stop expecting him to do everything the fans want. it's only as far as he can go. it's a balance between what the fans want + revenue in order to keep the business growing."

Thank you, well said. People want to give Dana shit all the time for making business decisions that favor revenue and ratings. No shit, it's a business and it needs to make money. He definitely makes a great balance between what's good for business and what's good for the fans. He could have gone the Kimbo route with Lesnar and thrown in 5 or 6 nobodies to run through but he put him against Mir and Herring. He's got a business to run and revenue, growth, and viewership to think about but he obviously loves and cares about the sport. Unlike these boxing leeches pitting Kimbo in the main event against guys like Tank Abbott. Disgusting.

I love the trash talk. dana is dead on here! Befor the fight I was talking about how if seth took kimbo down he would probably win. I figured that seth "could" take out kimbo on his feet but not as quick as he did. I wonder if "REAL" fighters like seth will give kimbo this much trouble in the future? could you imagine kimbo against a true heavyweight fighter in his prime like umm maybe arlovski or barnett? ;)

Wayner said...

In Tuf Dana dont just give a bonus for a knockout. he gives a $5000 bonus for a Finish, be it KO, TKO, Ref Stoppage, or Submission. that itself dont dictate the outcome of the fight becaues the fighters are already hungry for a finish anyhow. It makes them work harder for the finish and they get payed the same regardless of the way they end the fight.

dw took care of business. this is the dana that saved/made mma in the u.s. we don't see him enough.

Anonymous said...

I think you people are missing the point here.... Offering all of the fighters on the card a knockout of the night bonus, submission of the night bonus, etc ,etc. to encourage ALL OF THE fighters to go out there and really fight.... This is a reward for performing well and fighting well and making it exciting for the fans. Now it is a completely different thing to than go into a single specific fighter's locker room and tell that fighter to accommodate their opponent's strengths by keeping it on the feet or what have you and give him a bonus BEFORE the fight to get that single specific fighter to do specific things to give the other guy what they think at the time is an advantage. This is called fight fixing. Use your brain deductive skills and you know damn well Dana's right.

I dont understand how you could be a fan of mma and not be a fan of Dana. my hero!!

Tell us what you really think Dana! LOL

The Pot calling the Kettle Black.
The exclusivity clauses in the UFC contracts and the shit money fighters get paid is what is destroying this sport.

Antonio said...

Of course Dana is a business man, and has got to think about money.

At the same time, that's the problem. It seems that all he thinks of is precisaly this: money.

Ok, UFC will grow, more fans will be watching, so on and so forth.

But this is not what will make the UFC respectable, in the long run.

Respecting the fighter, will.

Anonymous said...

Shit money the fighters make? On the whole MMA fighters get paid as much as boxers do. It's only the huge draws in boxing that make the big time dollars like De La Hoya and PBF. Otherwise, the undercard boxers that nobody gives a shit about make about as much or even less than what MMA fighters make. Plus, Chuck probably makes 2+ mil per fight after bonuses and ppv buys. We all saw how much Randy made after UFC opened their books for the first time. So its not exactly a crappy income.

- Dana White

DirtliteXC needs to get out of mma...maybe try K1, that might give Bimbo a chance...i take that back, bimbo is a bum with heavy hands and a glass chin

I really love Dana, mostly cos he just says what he thinks and doesn't give a fuck what anyone else says about him and he also has a great deal of integrity.

...talking about working his ass off to show the amazing people in this sport.
Then he shows Jesse kicking limo window out, a million times,
and keeps f-up Junie on the show to keep ratings up.
Total hypocrite.

dude, Junie was IN THE HOUSE f-ing things , while Jesse was OUTSIDE THE HOUSE F-ing things up, bad reping the ufc in vegas and kicking the limo glass...big difference

right on DANA!!!

man how can you hate on DW?? mma would NOT be where it is today without him. The best fights would still be hiding in Japan.

So thank you Dana...and keep up with the great UFC cards, so that crappy promotions like ELITE XC can either get the hell out of the business, or at least learn from someone that's doing it right.

Hopefully Affliction does a better job in the near future.

I agree with dana 100% but lets not forget dana is a business man also. And business and politics are very much alike. I am sure when the republicans ran the last elections 8 years ago they were not saying "hey we gonna fuck you up real good! vote for us!" no, they were sweet talking people like they are doing now! So for all the "i dont get why people hate dana, he is dead on!" yes, he is dead on ON THIS, but if you have a brain you will know dana also plays very close to the line if you know what i mean. So lets not judge people by one event only, thats what 5 year old kids do, and also dogs because they have a memory spawn of 5 seconds or less.
