Thanks for the post -- Like many MMA fans, boxing was my first favorite sport. I think that this fight shows that boxing can still be a great sport. Great fight overall -- I mean, what else would you expect from two Latino fighters? -- They always bring a fight ...Aone...
Sweet! A great fight! I know its not MMA, but please post all the big fights.
Great fight. Thanks for letting me know about it.
i follow boxing.. i think cotto was exposed. biggest names he fought was aging fighters and guys he could muscle around. and in all his fights with big names he got into trouble and had to either run in the 12 to avoid getting ktfo (mosley) or punching his opponent in the balls (zab). if u watch carefully u can see him trying the ball punching trick on this one but the ref had nothing of it. the result? exposure. maywheather would kill this kid.
I perfer MMa over boxing just because of the variety you get, but how can you not love boxing...great scrap and a great share thank you.
great fight, margarita's kick is tough
amazing fight!
thanks man!
What's Puerto Rican for "No Mas"...he he he
I could've sworn you hated boxing with a passion...
fights like this are a good change in boxing.. here u see the classic good fighter (margarito) with a rock solid chin, slow but powerful strikes that been avoided by all the other guys (reason people dont like boxing is because most fights are about building up another ok fighter as the god walking on earth by giving him bums or former AGING great fighters), agaisnt a good fighter (yes cotto is good but not as good as we might think)that is fast and powerful but lack defensive skills.. why? because he is been spoon fed fighters taylor made for his style. this was the first guy he fought that he couldnt bully around. Boxing managers and the public in general need to learn that you cant really tell if a fighter is great or not buy the number of defeats he has. ignorance was the downfall of boxing. people want to see movies instead of fights, like some ufc fanboy that worship ufc or dana white and dont give a rat shit about the truth in the sport. those are not fans those are rats! i doubt i am making sence cuz i am hella wasted right now buzszzzzzzzz but hey :P
This and fights like pavlik/taylor are why i watch the sweet science. Rumor has it we'll soon see Arlovski in a pro boxing match
YIKEZ! this is probably the best fight in the last few years boxing or mma. i guess this is what happens when 2 actual elite fighters get in there. cant wait for Faber/Penn. thatll be a blast for sure. MMA needs to gain a few more elite fighters than theyll be ready to compete. boxing welterweights have like 6 elites right now Margarito Cotto Williams Mayweather even pehaps Berto and mosley. and thats the problem i find with MMA right now is the complete lack of real talent. u got Fedor Asilva Penn Faber and a couple more in the whole sport
Cotto is a very skillful pugilist. His accuracy is awesome. The way he dodged the flurry of punches at the end of the fifth was amazing. He read Margarito excellently there. Then Margarito got nasty on him. Like what is his head made out of. Rubber? He face shook radically and he took it all like nothing. It reminded me of hitting a punching bag that kept coming back for another one. And after a while his flurries simply got through and he hurt Cotto. Wow I just like a good fight mma, boxing, Dung Beetles the works. If its good its good and this one was great.
