I thought Marquardt won that...but I guess the point taken off did the trick

well that will teach marquardt that knees on grounded opponents are a no no, also elbows on the back of the head are not good for you or your opponent. this rules make this a mma fight and not a street fight like some fools that like mma want to see. those are not true mma fans, those are the same kind that watch christians being eaten by lions back in the roman empire, or those that like bull fighting, cock fighting, animal etc. a genetic defect.

marquardt lost on points, leites shouldn't be too happy about his "win" it came with a major ass-whopping.

But these ring girls are on fire!!! The one has god-beautifully huge breasts and the darker one is just freakin' gorgeous. They were the best of all the fights.

Leites is a M-A-N. He survived a flagrant foul--knee to the head while down--and didn't even think twice about taking the full recovery time (this gave Marquardt control of most of the second round). He got spiked on his head/neck in the final round and still congratulated Marquardt after the fight was over. Not so sure about the second foul in the final round, as the elbows appeared to be more to the side of the head. Nonetheless, Marquardt's showed obvious disregard for the rules regarding fouls. He should be held accountable for his actions and fined accordingly.

1) Thales had his foot on the ground, one hand in the are and his left hand was coming off the mat, that makes the knee questionable but not strictly illegal. Not worth the 1 point.

2) The glancing elbow on the ear should not have been a 1 point deduction.

Nate Dominated that fight...

I disagree with the decision!!

unfortunate mistakes, in the heat of the moment you just think about winning. But glad to see the rules enforced, also thales didnt look the same after that kneed to the head,

also isn't throwing your opponent with intent of injuring spine illegal..
i think so

That elbow he got a point deducted for was clearly to the side of the head.

nate was a classless loser. Leites on the other hand was absolute class and hung onto the fight even though he got kneed and elbowed illegally.

herb deans an idiot for not taking more points off.

I agree with the deduction for the knee and the elbow to the back of the head was called due to his previous infraction of the same kind..even tho it was close. Goes to show you shouldnt shoot yourself in the foot with needless penalties.

BTW, those 2 ring girls are the same exact ones featured in this season's The Ultimate Fighter...theyre in every episode for every fight. Remember?, Matt Brown said , "Call me." to one of them in the latest episode. HAHA

Im not familiar with either of these fighters, but they looked amateur as hell.

A good battle, nonetheless.

That elbow in the second round should not have been a foul, but I think the piledriver Marquardt did on Leites should have been a foul. And I may be a little biased favoring Leites, but I scored it a draw with the 2 point deductions.

tylr, how can you call them amateurs. Both of these fellows are very technical.

Nate committed 3 fouls from what I saw, 2 of which were point deducted. The knee was a full on hard knee, worth the point. Herb Dean previously warned him not to strike to the back of the head, and later he elbowed it, worth the point again. And then Nate to make matters worse pile drives Thales right at the end! This was extremely dangerous of all the fouls imo, though not counted. Nate lost on points because he was too eager to inflict damage.

Herb Dean did a good job and this will serve as an example not to violate rules as it can cost you the match.

@tylr: you're obviously a mma noob ; they are both top 10 in their weight class and demonstrate impressive all-around skills in this fight.

to "tylr" Marquardt an amateur? He is a great fighter and that was a very good fight.
-Leites barely won the first round.
-Marquardt completely dominated the second(maybe 2 points) - 1point for the barely ilegal knee.
-Marquardt won the third round.
Thus Marquardt should have won 29-28. At the worst have a tie but that would be overdone. In no way did Marquardt loose this fight.

+ Check out the elbows Leites gave to the back of Marquardt's head in the 3 rd round + he grabed his gloves to keep from getting punched.

I AGREE! Thales showed some class.
Nate, a classless chump... idiot

Those saying Nate is a classless loser need to grow up.

Both these fighters are World Class! Especially Nate being the only 7x King of Pancrase Champion in Japan, ever!

The second point to the head was not even called for, look at the replays plain as day it was on the side of the head which is 100% legal.

And the first point deduction was called for, but in no way was Nate trying to do harm to Leites by bending the rules, any true MMA fan or person who trains MMA can easily see he was timing Leites with his body to land a knee when he came up, which Nate thought he was going to do, split second later I guarantee Leites's knee would've been off the ground and no point.

These judges need to open their eyes - Leites got dominated for this fight and the first round was pretty even. Nate deserved this fight. Sounds like a rematch is going to happen, both fighters deserve it.
