Dude, one time, at band camp, we were playin' badmitton during rec time and this chick got her eye poked out with the birdie. So I know what Dana's talkin' about...there are TONS of fatalities every year from recreational badmitton...it's dangerous!

PS Idiot homer on the phone...if MMA wasn't on TV, what the hell would you be doing for a living? Don't you NEED something to talk about, maybe even a little controversy? I love how media leaches attack the very thing that gives them lifeblood. Only the obtuse can't see this for what it is.

I've seen Dana defend MMA a lot better before. I mean, gotta make our case... I think he seemed pretty disoriented... but who doesn't have bad days. Specially after XC sucked...

Joe Rogan was pretty good at defending the sport in another show... get him to talk next time. LOL

i agree with the above. i also agree with dana that violence is not unique to mma. when hockey players throw their gloves down, the entire arena stands up and the fight makes its way to network tv highlights where it's shown in slow-motion. baseball players charge the mound, basketball players charge the stands. the entire of boxing is to KO your opponent. why single out mma?

i guess people automatically reject what they don't understand. as mma gets more airtime and people understand the art and science of it, i think it will get more widespread acceptance.

i like mma but the guy on the phone is right, our society is not what we would like to think we are.
and dana white is stupid, bashing the other event while praising his own seems something a 5 year old would use as an argument.. mma is violent, but so are we. all the wars and all the shit going on in the world, its amazing how some people still ride on their high horses pretending we are civil.

I feel Dana did a good job in his attempts to avoid bringing in the UFC into the conversation. While I do prefer the UFC to other organizations, I also enjoyed Pride before it was bought out. Elite XC was not the brand to put on TV, they dont have the caliber needed to make a primetime appearance. And I felt Dana did a good job in pointing that out.

As far as a dangerous sport, well yea, MMA is dangerous. But to single it out when we have boxers circling each other, beating each other in the face for 10 rounds, or football players running at full speed after a kick off to rip someone's head off, you cant single out sanctioned MMA as barbaric and unsuitable for TV.
