Personally, I think Gina C. does a great job as an MMA fighter in the forefront -- What I mean is that, yes she is attractive [to some/many], yet she doesn't let that get in the way. From this interview, and others I've seen, she seems very humble despite the fact that the spotlight is on her for being an "mma chick." I'm interested in what you guys think -- Does she sell her sexuality? Is she a good representative of a female MMA practitioner? _Jimbo_
Ya, she seems to be using her sexiness to try and sell her persona, but it doesn't bother me. She can back it up in ring, and if she continues to back it up in the ring then who cares if she's also good looking? Who said good looking women can't fight?
I don't see anzthing wrong with the female or male representatives of a sport using their looks as a support card. Gina is a great fighter and has proved that in a ring several times. Problem would be if she would be a bad fighter but got ahead on the looks card, which is not the case. How many stars all over the sports, both male and female we see as physical appearance role-models. I rather see females from sports being role models to young females than anorexic, bulimic, starved out supermodels. As long as the sportists are doign their work inside the arena right, the selling of the image is only a beneficial bonus. Tara is a great fighter but I disagree with her opinion.
lol@ all her haters lookin like men.
she aiignt butt naked, she barely even unclothed..i dont see the big deal. she trains hard and plays hard. w/e...she's probably gonna be gone within 5 years anyways so make your money while you can. the sport is probably more damaging on the female body than male. she hasnt sold out her morals for the recognition. she is who she is. no one has the right to tell her otherwise.
Yeah, she's sellin' it (her sex appeal I mean)...but so what.
Here's the only issue I can see (where I'd agree with some of the other fighters' comments: Can you see any self respecting male MMA fighter being a Gladiator??? Now imagine that this male MMA fighter is the face of male MMA fighters, a Randy Couture or Chuck Lidell, he'd be the freaking laughing stock of the sport. What I'm getting at is this...shameless self promotion usually ends with clothing and logos in MMA...but not with Gina.
She trains, she works hard, and she steps into the cage - that is all the MMA community should really care about. If she wants to use her physical appearance to market herself elsewhere, who cares? She's not posing for playboy, she's not doing anything "vulgar" and even if she were, it doesn't have any effect on the outcome of any fight. If other fighters don't like it, blame marketing and mainstream America, Gina Carano isn't doing anything but trying to build a career for herself.
she can put me in a triangle choke anytime!!!!
I don't think they people "hating" on her understand that she was doing muay thai and got her 5 MMA fights in BEFORE all her fame came. She didn't get to the top because she looks the way she does. all of that happend AFTER her muay thai career/5 MMA fights.
I don't even want to get started on Tara Laosa.
