Hell yeah, great way to finish! There's a reason why he has that belt...BJ's the real champ!

Awesome fight, another Caol Uno ending. BJ deserves it

I really enjoyed this fight... two guys who are known for going to the ground stood toe-to-toe for 3 rounds and then there was no question at the end... BJ saw the opening and finished Sherk in most fighters would not.

Classic, thanks.

Word to BJ! I was surprised that he called out GSP at the end. He goes down to Lightweight, takes the tile, and then wants a rematch with GSP? Hell ya, I'd love to see that! And ya, Sherk never was on the juice? still isn't on the juice? give me a break...

BJ didn't even use the stool between rounds... he remained standing... that was one of my favorite parts of the fight.
It shut up a lot of his haters.

complete domination... #1 155 in the world... hands down

OK i think Sherk could have gone another round
i dont think he was done

So was it an early stoppage?
Probably. There was alot of confusion after

Does it matter?

Hell No. BJ totally had that fight down. If they would have gone to a fourth, it would have been a short round.

And he calls GSP out?!?!
Can we egt a vid with that on there?

Fight of the Night: Wilson Gouveia vs. Goran Reljic
Submission of the Night: Rousimar Palhares

Can you post them already?

it's an early stoppage fo sho!

sherk probably couldn't recover for the rest of the fight, but he wasn't completely out on the ground there - so it's the fucking rules: SAVED BY THE BELL!

Complete domination by BJ. Bit of a messy ending - Yamasaki had to be more definitive - but there was never any question about who was going to win.

penn fought the match well...didn't allow sherk to get into any rythm

The fight was nothing like I thought it would be.... well except for the fact that BJ won. But all in all, a very good fight and a perfect end to one of the greatest pay-per-views ever!

BJ said "he's done" and the ref confirmed it. Had Sherk been saved by the bell he should have gotten up and gone to his corner. It would have shown that he's not battered to hell. As it was he sat there dazed, unable to get up.

I expected a much rougher fight. A couple of observations: 1)If you watch the fight again, you'll notice Sherk never maximizes his reach while punching, he throws curves. Not only does this shorten his reach, it fails to bring that "snap" that brings the stars; 2)I understand Penn is perhaps the most dangerous BJJ guy out there (#4#), but Sherk didn't even attempt a double leg takedown (his bread and butter) which was disappointing. I actually thought he'd have a chance at it since he, unlike everyone else who sucks at double leg take downs, drives through his opponent and often times takes it across the ring. I'm sure Penn would've avoided going to his back, but the scramble would've been something to see :). Besides, now he may never know if it would've worked 'cuz he never tried.; 3)WHAT THE FUCK was Sherk thinking by not continuing to kick Penn's leg?? He was getting solid shots in and Penn (who was being generous with that leg) would have had to change his game plan. Instead, Sherk only threw a few kicks while continuing to let Penn tee off on his face w/ surgical jabs and straights.

THE GOOD: Penn steps up to the plate and doesn't disappoint. If he had Sherk's work ethic nobody would touch the guy and GSP would just be the guy who beats everyone EXCEPT Penn.

THE BAD: Sherk's rigid strategy (made for a slow fight). Whatever his game plan was, it didn't work. Actually, it failed miserably. There was no attempt to change his tactics (no, waiting for the 4th and 5th round was not a strategy since he wasn't forcing Penn to work). And the fence bounce, what the fuck was he thinking?? Amateurs bounce off of the fence, and usually stay amateurs.

I think this was a great fight and shut up the BJ haters big time.

Sherk was i think some what nervous for whatever reason. As he`s alot more positive than that usually.

I`m a GSP fan, but actuallt think the fight with BJ he should`ve lost and got a rather dubious win. WOuld love to see a rematch that would be on another level. And i think someone would definaely get submitted or knocked out.
