Wand is finally back, and looked like his old self, a la Pride. Who do you think White is going to send to the Axe Murderer next? Liddel rematch? Rampage-Silva 3? Dismantling a "contender" like Jardine should rocket him to the top of the standings.

Question about the fight, though... I noticed it during the fight and it's clear on the replay... is it legal to hold Jardine's throat like he did while he was teeing off on his dome? I know it wasn't long enough to have Mazagatti stop it, but let's say Jardine was still awake; would Wand have been penalized or made to stand back up?

UFC85 was clearly in the top MMA events I've seen in in the last 5 years I've been watching. From MiniCroCop to Wand to The Dragon. Absolutely stunning. Just wish Sherk would have landed a few of those haymakers and hooks.

Wanderlei might not focus on strengthening those areas anymore, or perhaps he lost some mass during his hardcore training schedule.

I'm not gonna suggest steroid use like most people do these days, because I'm pretty sure he was tested for that.

wanderlei is back, but he was never out, he got caught by stronger crocop, he fought dan henderson sick, in his last fight as well,wanderlei almost won against chuck, would have won had he jumped on him after he droped him... but used to pride rules he could not kick his face to a knock out... so let him back up, now he has adjusted his fight game and jumped on keith to finish him. next he should take griffin(after griffin looses to rampage). and if chuck beats shogun(which he w'ont) the winner of liddell and machida should get a titel shot.

Anonymous said...: i am a wanderlei fan myself and here is the sad truth. wand is washed up, he lost his speed and he is trying to compensate with strenght. if you look closelly wand didnt intend to land the ko punch with that hand, he was swinging with both hands and one caught jardine in the chin, after that wand closed the deal cuz the guy still has quality. dont get your hopes too high guys, you might get deceptioned. another theory might be that just now wanderlei started training for taller guys, adjusting his swinging so he can hit more. but i dont think wanderlei could beat chuck or rampage anymore. and i think a rematch with jarnide would be dangerous.; May 27, 2008 2:17 PM

But i also love Rampage, he's another class act and a truly nice guy. And my favorite. I think they will eventually fight and it will go to Rampage because lets not fools ourselves, Rampage is a monster now and Wanderley isn't quite as good as he once was.
