Sean Hannity on MMA and Kids on Fox News

I really hate Sean Hannity, he doesn't have a clue about our beloved sport.

FYI, Sean Hannity isn't the only dumbass at fox. It seems that the whole fox network is run by ignorant dumbasses.

I am a huge fan of the MMA sport, but I am not sure if this should be legal or illegal. We do not know the long term effects it may have on the children, it can be devastating. At the same time, it is a sport they love being a part of, the love for competition is like no other. This will bring major controversy to the sport.

There up there own ass in publicity thinking its just for a buck. Morons, retards, w/e. He obviously doesnt understand MMA or anything about safety, hes not a fucking doctor, or a martial artist.I do jujitsu, boxing, kickboxing and MMA training, and seeing people like this rag on MMA when they dont even know the passion and the heart that goes into this most woonderful of sports.

Well, what we have is a typical Fox News production where the talking head spits out the biased, unresearched opinion of the editors. Sean Hannity knows fuck all about MMA. He was just told by someone to present that opinion and when confronted with statistics just says, "yeah, but it looks brutal." Just like when a constitutional scholar comes on Fox and gives solid evidence as to how the Bush administration is gutting our constitution in favor of the rich, the neo-con mouth piece just says "oh that's just liberal conspiracy." Unfortunately a lot of Americans still don't rely on truth as much as they rely on image, and follow those who talk the loudest, not the truest. MMA is just too true of a sport for these people. Maybe having 6 year olds compete is a little bit too much stress for the growing sport, but I think it's alright so long as you don't have rage addict fathers teaching their kids to be angry all the time. Our kids don't need anymore negative motivation. They need to be taught the humility and responsibility that comes with being trained to hurt someone else.

Personally I think boxing should not be practiced by kids under 16 maybe even 18. The same goes for MMA, a childs brain has not developed enough to sustain hits like an adult, headgear or not. Let them train BJJ and kickboxing(no head shots) and then when they're 16 let them compete under strict rules. Just my opinion

this guy is an ignorant prick who knows nothing about the sport.

If kids are not allowed to participate in MMA or boxing for fear that they will injure there bodies, they shouldnt be allowed to participate in football, hockey, Lacrosse, or any other contact sport. It is more likely that a child will break an arm or leg from football than mma ( which is basically grappling mixed with striking, and a kid probably cant even generate enough power to knockout his opponent anyways so why are they worried about "brain trauma") Most people are so weak, time to stop coddling your kids so we can build a tougher more diciplined future for our countries.

Wow...just when I thought the media couldn't get any more transparent, they go and prove me wrong.

Hey Sean/Fox, why don't you just come out and say it...you don't want a nation of YOUNG, FIT, INTELLIGENT, HEALTHY and THOUGHTFUL men who know how to think for and defend themselves!

No, you'd rather they attend your shit-ball public school system, watch reality TV 3 hours a night, get no exercise, and play video games eating twinkies and taking ritalin until they've depreciated themselves into a ball of mush.

WHY? you ask...

Tell me which group of people you'd rather be in charge of controlling and getting to do what you want done (i.e. donating money and time to our wonderful government) ...that's why.

where is the ultimate fighter 7?????????? We want to see it.

OK first off Sean Hannity and the whole Fox News are a complete bunch of asses.

As big of an MMA fan as I am, I would have to say this is a little too much. In my opinion there should be an age limit of 18 years. Pre-adolecent bodies and brains are still developing. Headgear and mouthguard or not,as posted above long term effects could be devastating.

i dont really like the idea of seeings kids in MMA.. but the FOX guy is retarded..he doesnt even bother listening to the other guy.

i wanted to tear his throat out when the guy said "to the untrained eye" and then he says "untrained" in that faggot inquiry-type way news interviewers use to make themselves look confident an professional. as for the 7 year-olds fighting, i'd have to agree that it's pretty ridiculous

Competition inside a cage should be restricted to, let's say 12 year olds, but then they can inflict much more damage to each other at that age. In Holland the drinking age is 16 and the driving age is 18; by that logic you can learn to handle alcohol for a year and a half and then drive. Yes drinking age is 16 and trust me there is not one tenth the drinking problem with kids that you have in the US. So allow kids from a certain age but other than that it should be 'smokers' only: just against other in the club. Remember that the most important thing is too create a positive atmosphere in the dojo so that kids understand the aspects of self control. The responsibility of the teacher also lies with observing the nature of a particular child and dealing with problem kids who have or exhibit inappropriate levels of aggression that will spill out into their daily lives. It's a huge responsibility that i'm not sure many teachers are capable of fullfilling

You gotta love Sean Hannity...no seriously, you legally have to love him. If you don't the CIA will come to your house and torture you and your family until you finally confess love to him.

I love how he ends it with "you're rationalizing". Umm, no he wasn't, he was answering your question about whether or not it was safe and a good thing that kids are doing this. I liked how the guy was like "I don't care about the publicity, you guys called me". It's obvious why he said that though, Sean and Fox will do anything for publicity.

But yeah, it was kind of weird watching those little kids do it. Makes me wonder if I should be watching it at all. It IS quite violent. Nevertheless...

Anonymous said...

That was annoying. New reports in your country are so biased and ignorant. Watching Fox or CNN is like watching Jerry Springer, silly and unprofessional are the only words to describe them. Children don't have the strength in their bodies to do any real damage to each other.

To be honest though I do think that a semi-contact form of the sport should be devised in order for kids below a certain age to compete.

I love MMA, but this bullshit needs cut.

If a kid wants to defend himself, let him wrestle. Leave the intense combat sports up to adults who are willing to take the risks, and understand fully both the costs and the rewards.

Raising kids in MMA is not good for the sport. Period.

I've seen that Hannity guy talk about other stuff and he is just a rude ignorant waste of flesh.
I understand people who don't know anything about the sport being worried but for any worried parents, they should try it out themselves and see how safe it is. At my gym this kid's dad always came down with him to make sure the kid was ok and now the kid's dad does MMA lol.
Over here in the UK as far as I'm aware we don't allow any head shots until they're 16 or above. I think that's reasonable.

Although i agree about it being physically safe im not sure if its a good idea for young kids to fight. I take psychology and there are a lot of developmental processes going on at this time, its possible that a traumatic MMA incident could seriously affect a kid later on in life. Despite this Sean Hannity is a still tool. His argument just kept going in circles. Nice try trying to fake popular opinion against MMA though. He goes "All the people ive talked to say its brutal" the guy hes interviewing replies "how many martial artists have you talked to?" to which he replies "i know lots of people... (next topic)". ROFL. I think after this video mma fans would pay millions to see fedor ragdoll this bitch

There are some Muay Thai boxers that start training at about 9 years old, and most have grown to be in exceptional shape. Although i don't really know any real study on the long term effects of training at such a young age so perhaps i can't really compare.

But if all goes well for those kids, then just imagine what they'll be like when they turn pro or go into their prime. WOW!

people seem to stuck on this idea of it being a cage, that its more brutal because its in a cage rather than a ring? i bet it was a boxing promoter who tipped off the press about this story, their scared because they've slowly killed their sport with thier greed and mma is all about talent bot mpney

i really support MMA but not MMA for kids didnt even knew that kind of stuff existed until i saw this video.

fox cnn sky and many others are all the same company really. cfr

I agree with Sean and I LOVE MMA. those kids are to young to be taking those kinds of shots. At that age they can't really grasp the concept. What would happend if some of those kids decided to fight at school which would result in someone losing their child? The MMA world, will be blamed.Shame on any parent for letting their child be involved with such a violent sport.

I'm not totally set on the idea, but at this moment I think it is fine. I'm open to being proven wrong.

As someone else said, kids don't have enough strength to actually injure each-other.

All they are doing is combining martial arts and wrestling... two wholesome sports that kids have been doing forever. They aren't even allowed to strike to the head on the ground. Sounds totally safe to me, it just looks brutal, and calling it "cage fighting" is just sensationalist.

P.S. Fox and CNN and other network news agencies are not the same. Though I think all profit-based news is biased (especially major corporate networks), Fox is ESPECIALLY awful, sensationalist, and ridiculous.

Watch the documentary "Out-foxed" to see what I mean.

(only slightly off-topic)

I don't get it, what's with the "They are in a cage, omg!" reaction, in cage, everything is much more safer than in a boxing ring. As for the kids fighting, maybe semi-contact would be ok, but it's depatable. Most of the kids aren't really in a physical form to hurt eachother but tha'ts not 100% sure. A lot of you are saying that it should be allowed under 18 years. I think that's bull. I am 14, weigh almost 160 pounds and I CAN injure, I'm just born with more strength than a normal 14 year old. Despite my age, I train with grown ups and I canm't really say that the training is exceptionally brutal ( I had more injuries when I played football). I can also say, that the sport hasn't made violent at all, vica versa, I'm a much more calm and reasonable human being now.

And for Sean Hannity, fuck off and learn the facts before you start babbling

After watching the piece I'm not sure if it is a good idea for such young children to practice MMA either. I started wrestling when I was young and I think that single disciplines are much more realistic to teach to children.
