Dana needs to make a deal with an A-list boxer to come have a fight in the UFC, in exchange for Silva boxing Jones. The problem is that there aren't any boxers who want to get in the cage. Why? Is the paycheck not big enough, or are they just afraid that boxing will be shown to be a truly limited form of fighting? Sure MMA has it's limits, but that is mainly to appease the state athletic commissions. Also I think Dana should take a bigger risk in allowing UFC fighters to venture outside of the UFC, if there is a possibility of a big enough draw. (Fedor - Coture, Silva - Jones, etc...)

I would be amazed if Silva could beat JR in a boxing match...I think his most powerful "punch" is a knee.

Here's an idea, set up two fights about 3 months apart... first a boxing match between these two, and then... a MMA fight between them. Athough I highly doubt JR would say "yes" to a beating like the one Silva would give him in the octagon.

lol RJJ addressed Silva as "that guy from the UFC"

Dana is taking advantage of the fact that the UFC is an MMA monopoly right now, and the organizations restricts its fighters every way it chooses to.
That's exactly the reason why they couldn't sign Fedor, and if they keep this up, they'll lose other great fighters as well.
I just can't wait for another organization to become big enough to lure in disappointed UFC fighters. They can't keep this kind of policy forever, and they will fall sooner or later.
Amen.

No they'll keep this policy. These hard-line tactics are what keep them as the big fish and everyone else as the guppies.

When your in a decentralized sport, you need to be careful with your investments. Dana is playing "better safe than sorry" by not letting his beloved fighter get pummeled in a boxing ring.

No way in hell ANY boxer should EVER get in the Octagon. It wouldn't prove boxing is a "truly limited" fighting sport... it IS a truly limited fighting sport... but that isn't why boxing fans remain boxing fans.

RJJ is a boxer, period. If an MMA guy isn't developed enough where he can put away his other weapons and still win with his hands alone then I guess there's something about boxing that's still pretty damn interesting. After all, if you use MMA in a street fight, you're probably gonna end up a dead man.

But, for what it's worth, I admire Silva for daring to give his legs a rest and his hands a test. You know if he even hurts Jones a little it will give Silva even more legitimacy as an all-around, all-time great... he doesn't have to beat Jones... he only has to rock him good.

Horse shit. 90% of street fights end up on the ground with in the first 10 seconds. MMA guys dominate in street fights...especially against kids who can "box."

A world class boxer will whoop on many ufc guys ass hands down 8-10 times. people think a boxer cant fight on the ground or defend a kick or take down please.. chucks fat ass can aviod takedowns from tito. its not hard to move away from a kick or a takedown. its basic shit whats so fucking hard about throw our legs back when u shoot for a takedown. and a kick atleast a kick that will cause a ko u can see it come from a mile away and it will put the dumb ass throwing the kick off balance.. (high kick) dana white said sean would beat mayweather lmao did any see bj out boxing and ko that guy.
