One of those guys that called GSP a mental midget and thought that Serra was the best kept secret in the welterweight division right?

Nothing against Serra, and he lost with class after being taken to MMA school, but you Serra fans need to face reality...he lost, not by early stoppage, not by forearm-to-back-of-the-head-leading to a tko like GSP lost last time, but because another 15 seconds of that fetal-position defense with GSP's knees smashing against Serra's ribs would've meant those ribs would be broken.

I don't think Serra will be crying about this one much. Maybe had he worked GSP a little bit and it wasn't so lop-sided. As it was, he got completely worked and it was only going to get worse.

Serra did just as well as everyone else though, besides BJ. I'd like to see BJ and GSP rematch, as well as GSP Fitch, then see GSP take on Anderson Silva in 2009-2010. His ability to take people down at will so convincingly is pretty unbelievable. I haven't seen anything quite like it.; April 20, 2008 12:39 AM

Serra always gasses in round 1, he has no cardio.

Serra could never fight off his back because he has poor jiu jitsu.

Serra normally drops his guard and takes jabs to the head, since he's known for his horrible boxing.

Serra's well known for his terrible take down defense, that's why he got taken down constantly and immediately.

Serra has no power whatsoever and doesn't do any weight training, you can see it in his build.

He can't stand a fight up either because his legs are so weak.

To top that off he's such a puss he can't even fight with broken rib.

And when a fight gets stopped early, he'd never complain because he's such a classy guy.

A great fighter no doubt, but the welterweight division is lacking in competition. Fedor, anderson silva.. that many times find themselfs being the smaller fighter and having to rely on technick and smarts to overcome their opponent. All gsp did was tier serra due to his wayyy superior strength and work ethic, and then he finished the fight agaisnt a gased serra. All fine and fair, but what will he do when he finds someone bigger and younger? (in the later stages of his career) Will he then be so dominant? He reminds me of hughes, hughes once dominated too due to his strength but once he hited that age, someone stronger (gsp) took over. Those are good fighters but not great. I mean I agree that Serra was getting dominated, but I think there was only like 20 seconds left in the round, so why not let him stick it out.

I bet that the UFC was pissed at Mazzagatti for making Lesnar tap out twice in his fight, so he wasn't taking any chances this time.

In the end, it didn't really matter because the stoppage just delayed the inevitable.
