**Breaking News** Fedor Confirms Fight with Tim Sylvia

Russian heavyweight fighter Fedor Emelianenko has confirmed a bout with former UFC heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia, scheduled for July 19th. Here are more details from sherdog.

Top ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko (Pictures) will fight Tim Sylvia (Pictures) on July 19. The Russian mixed martial arts champion confirmed the bout to Sherdog.com on Tuesday.

"[Sylvia] is a good fighter, a strong fighter, the former UFC heavyweight champion, which is important," Emelianenko said via telephone from Stary Oskol, Russia. "I am looking forward to fighting him and training hard for this fight."

While Emelianenko was short on details, Sherdog.com has learned through sources close to the negotiations that Fedor-Sylvia would headline a card tentatively scheduled for the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, the home base of HDNet Fights.

HDNet Fights CEO Andrew Simon declined to comment on the report, however sources indicate the bout will air on the Mark Cuban-owned network and is rumored to be promoted by Affliction, a clothing brand closely tied to MMA.

Affliction had been connected with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, however a June 28 Las Vegas date has since been discarded.

fedor submits tim in round 2, just like his previous fight. i'd rather see couture vs. fedor

Say what you want about Tim but he is a good fighter like him or not he as a very good chance at beating Fedor.Tim Sylvia is a under rated fighter do to the fact alot of people just dont like him for some reson or another.
Fedor on the other hand is liked and thought to be the best in the world.#1 in the world i dont think so but a lot of you do and that makes him unbeatable in the eyes of many in the mma world. He has beat really good fighters and made short work of some fighters that should not have been in the ring with him/"not so good fighters".His managers i think are a big problem and this is why he is not fighting in the ufc where he would fight top ranked guy's,they want to keep him from losing his #1 spot. Why else did he not sign a fight with Randy in the ufc, they would have no control of the fighters he would have to face.#1 fighters have to fight top guys to stay #1 and Fedor dosnt to that. This is why i hope Tim beats Fedor.

Umm...Fedor has already destroyed the UFC's top heavy weight (the current champ) twice. But I do agree that Tim Sylvia is under rated, and this is coming from someone who can't stand watching him fight. But I truly feel he is no match for the Russian machine. And to say that Fedor is not the #1 ranked fighter is craziness. Fedor has fought the top of the food chain in the heavyweight division and only once came close to losing - Fujita nailed him - but when you see how he dealt with that, well, it was bloody unbelievable.

I became a Fedor fan years ago when Pride was not well known in North America. And I became his fan not because he was this obscure Russian fighter, but because he clearly displayed the most well rounded arsenal I have ever seen, and many fans and fighters have said the same thing. Furthermore, he does not want to fight for the UFC because the UFC prevents their fighters from fighting in other organizations. That's why they don't have all the best fighters. Although I do feel they have the market on the welter weights.

And lightweights.

Tim has one big advantage. He's been fighting and training with the best heavyweights around for the last two years. He'll have no rust and he'll be as hungry as ever to win after losing to Nog.

Fedor on the other hand hasn't had a decent fight in 3 years. His one fight he's had lasted minutes against an unskilled giant. I personally think that a loss would be the best thing for Fedor. He'd stop tip-toeing around, pretending like he had to protect some legacy and start training and fighting more.

WHAT A JOKE.

THAT BIG BASTARD IS GONNA HIS ASS HANDED TO HIM.

I HOPE FEDOR BREAKS HIS LEG IN HALF BUT I WOULD SETTLE FOR THE ARM.

AFTER HIS COMMENT ABOUT FEDOR BEING A LITTLE SHIT.

CAN"T WAITTT>>FOR THIS ONE.

I hope fedor breaks his arm again just like Mir. Maybe it will take him out of the game once and for all.

Syl has the biggest mouth, calling out Fedor?..goodluck.

I hope Fedor remember's the quote from Syl calling him a little shit.
Then he can deliver a little more punishment and set him straight.

Tim Sylvia Do talk alot of trash, remember when he was Champ, he use to think he was top notch.

He does have a Reach Advantage thats why he is at sometimes difficult to fight.

hong man choi is a bigger, stronger version of tim sylvia, albeit slower, but fedor will still have the speed advantage against sylvia

fedor is not fighting in the ufc for the same reason tim is not fighting in the ufc and couture is not fighting in the ufc. the ufc bonds their fighters to their company, giving them 3 fights per year, maybe more if they like you, depends on the contract. If they dont like you, they can really fuck you up, giving u up to 9 months of inactivity. ufc is trying to monopolize mma and any true mma fan that is not a tool and has a brain should be agaisnt it. WORD!

This is awesome...! With all due respect, anyone who thinks Sylvia has more than a 1% luck-based chance really just needs to see the upcoming fight to finally understand that Tim is NOT under-rated... he's better than me, but I'm not over-rated... ;-)

Tim gonna cry like sissy girl....Fedor is unbeatable,,u americans just cant accept that,,,

tim silvia is the most unathletic person in mma. He is so tall and uncoordinated. His punches are slow and he has no ground game. the only thing he has is that he's big. Fedor is gonna destroy him.
