i love whenever something happened (funaki got rickson down, rickson mounted, etc) the female japanese commentator would 'ohh' and 'ahh' lol .. sounded so retarded.

That went from an INCREDIBLY boring fight to a great ground game by gracie. The best part of the fight has to be gracie trying to choke out funaki with his own arm LOL

thats quite the camera work there, you don't even see him transition to the RNC =/

when did this fight take place?

That was beautiful.. 10 minutes of stale mate and not a single "booooo" from the crowd. The Japanese public are so much more educated about hand to hand combat. It's so deep in their culture not only to understand combat, but to have honor and respect along with it.

lol seriously, the gracies really need to get off their family name, realise they are human just like the rest of us, and start working out for real. The ref almost killed the japonese fighter, and really an unimpressive fight. my honest opinion. thanks for posting!

i get pissed off when the UFC crowd boos after 30 seconds of non animal rage swinging for the fences fighting, but this fight was pushing into the boundries of where I would have wanted to start to yell "do something!"

That was not a boring fight at all. That was awesome! If it was "boring" or uneventful, the ref would have stopped them and returned them to center but that was an incredible chess match in the corner between two very skilled fighters! It was like a Boa and a Mongoose wrapped in a clinch, each one looking for, and trying to create, openings. To action fans, it might look boring... to hardcore MMA fans, I would think this was enjoyable (except for, as noted, the crappy camerawork!)

this video was worth it just for the pre-fight.

that's one of the loudest crowd reactions i've ever heard, when funaki made his entrance.

great find, thanks for posting

Wow...MMA camera work has come a LONG way. You know, like, not turning the ONE camera you have on the fight AWAY from the fighters when someone gets full mount to get a shot of the excited/concerned cornermen.

I wonder if the current UFC let fighters stay in the clinch until they "worked it out" is even possible when you have such short rounds compared to the old days? The clinch in this video seemed like a chess match with dynamite for pieces...some of the clinches I see in today's UFC looks like an agreed resting period.

That was really lame and boring. Most of you guys will disagree and say it's true fighting when fighers don't get stood up for laying or clinching without action because it's a "stalemate" and that fighters should be able to resolve that. But I think it was just boring. And I bet the rest of you don't want to be honest enough to say you watched a 10 minute clip of 2 men hugging each other.
