I watched this fight and I can't believe the decision that was rendered. I thought very clearly that Huerta won the fight. Of course this fight was overturned by the commision when it was found out that Guillard was putting vaseline on his legs between rounds, which is not suprising considering his ground game skills.

I thought the commentary was awfully biased as well. The commentator comes out and mentions the hometown bias as well.
I think Melvin should be kicked out of the UFC. They really don't need a fighter like that. Cocaine? Vaseline cheating? Come on.

Seriously, you don't think Guillard won the fight (I suppose you are all white-hispanic)? Hmm bias? You show me one blow that Huerta threw that was of any impact (he got lucky with getting the back in the first round)? The combinations that Guillard threw were textbook! Lets get these guys in a cage and see what happens (vaseline will not be needed to stop Huerta only move with his opponents back against the cage). And you above, what the hell do you think fighting is about? Drugs, women getting the edge? Give me a break go back to your martial arts and practice your kata. Love this blog though! You rock dude!
quick request: could you not put "no spoiler" on the top of the fights (maybe at bottom): it spoils the fight for me as this is where I do my watching of all the fights :) Though I do like it when you bring out specific facts about the fighters. All makes for a better viewing experience! Thanks for everything regardless!

wow.. glad somebody just had to play the race card. fact is guillard cheated in the fight.
I'm unsure how taking somebody's back, especially somebody with very good back defense like guillard, is ever lucky. Huerta's performance wasn't great, but I don't think Guillard landed enough significant strikes. Whatever, I'm biased.. Guillard is a cheater and a scumbag and should not represent our sport.
Huerta threw a lot of sloppy kicks. Kind of a waste of energy IMO. Pretty good find Thanks, and you do a great job on this site!
I couldn't even watch the last round. Huerta sucked for the first 2 rounds. I can see people giving him points for being scrappy and hanging in there but what sucked even worse was that Guillard let him get away with so many mistakes. As a fight watcher, I hated this fight but as a fight fan, I still thank you for putting it up.
I am grateful for all of them whether or not I like a particular fight is just one man's opinion.

Melvin's a scum bag. I think you'd find Roger would have controlled that fight more with the single leg take down if it wasn't lathered in vaseline. I have to agree that melvin's stand up was superior. This fight was in march of '05. I think huerta would destroy guillard if they face each other again. Huerta has much improved where as Melvin is still a douche bag!
i think the fight was even and in the end maybe melvin did take it but roger would take him out if they fought again. if you wanna see melvin cry you should see the end if his fight with joe daddy stevenson, lmao that was funny shit.
