Those are some sick armbars.

I thought that was quite a good fight.

Hong Man Choi should fight in MMA more, I think. His striking is excellent, his wrestling is solid and his submission defence, while not good, does evidently at least exist.

Now I want to see Fedor against Couture, Rutten (seriously - he's said he'd like to fight one or two more times and I think it could be arranged contractually) or Barnett.

Also - the event was Pride reborn! Crazy lady (really adds class: she's great), Pride ref, almost-Pride rules. Good stuff.

Weak, Fedor is an ass for not signing with the UFC. He's going to fall into obscurity fighting half assed competition.

Having Hong Man Choi fall on you is like having a tree fall on you. The quick fight is no surprise, and Fedor's armbar on Hong Man looked like a child hanging on his daddy's arm lol

Man that was a tough giant to handle! I was nervous for a moment (strange things happened this year!).
A trademark Fedor finish, nice.

That is utterly ridiculous. Oh.my.god. This man is not human.

ive lost faith in fedor, he doesnt wanna fight top-level competition

although i guess the ufc's heavyweight bracket doesnt have much to offer...but at least some of the guys have the speed and power to at least KO fedor.

that's probably what hes afraid of, he wants to keep his perfect record, doesn't wanna get knocked out from some random lucky punch, so he fights big slow guys now.

Easy fight for fedor... Now he'd better fight someone good :)

Wow. Excellent fight. Hong Man Choi's strength seems overwhelming, even against Fedor's considerable strength and control. Love how he set that sub up. Waited for that right arm and nailed it perfectly. Thanks for the post.

PS: This blog is my most visited site. I'm hooked. Thanks a lot for taking the time to put these up, and happy holidays! Oh BTW, please make a B.J. Penn/Joe Stevenson promo. Pretty please!

Hong Man Choi did much better then i thought!!

I think he does not realize that even his small punches pack enormous power. He should have hit Fedor more.

I believe he did have a chance to win after all.

Fedor looked like a kid compare to him.

Who has Fedor beat that's a credible opponent in his weight class? I can't even remember when that last happened.

All that giant Korean has going for him is his size. Anyways, can you post the rest of the UFC 79 undercard fights?

this gives me nostalgia. feels like the ol' days. But he seriously needs to fight better guys

If HMC would have worked more armbar defence that could have been the upset of 07'.

Fedor looked like he got hit with a meat cleaver. lol

I was not impressed with Fedor's performance. *GSP*

I didn't fully grasp Choi's size until I saw this video. Fedor looks like a toddler next to that guy. Despite the difference in experience it was still entertaining. Thanks for the post.

yo man, as always, you're up-to-date w/ recent events. Thanks.. wondering if you have the rest of the Yarennoka fights. Again, thanks.

man that was hilarious. every time honger man choy fell forward, it became a natural takedown. hahahaha.

also mad props to honger man cause he wasn't a pussy like 90% of fedor's opponents.

hey guys, i wouldn't diss fedor's refusal for the ufc just yet. he spoke about the contract offer in an interview, it was a 2 year 8 fight contract and he had to fight 4 times a year, on the ufc's request. they also held the right to terminate the contract at any time they wanted. he couldn't appear in any advertisements or radio shows without the permission of the ufc. and couldn't compete in sambo tournaments. Also if he didn't loose during that 8 fight span, his contract extended itself indefinately.

i don't know about you guys, but i wouldn't sign that.

Doesn't Hong Man Choi look like the Japanese version of Anthony Robbins?

Mark Hunt. new years last year

Can or not, that dude was huge. Let's see fucking Couture or Sylvia try to beat HMC.

That guy was big. I honestly wondered how Fedor was going to do it as he approached him the guy was so big and powerful. Weird.

I miss pride.

Don't be impressed by this fight guys. Hong Man Choi only had one MMA fight, and that was against comedian Bobby Ologun, and he just came off a serious K-1 beating at the hands of Jerome LeBanner. Choi is far, far from a good MMA fighter. Fedor did what he should have done by beating Choi in the first round.

I hope Fedor steps up his level of competition soon.

Not impressive. He should've won much faster. I was impressed with Hong tho, he has a natural take-down defense but little to NO skill grappling whatsoever.

Hong gets training = Hong gives Fedor a nightmare.

"Jonathan" you are crazy man, you don’t understand nothing of fighting sports...you talking about a god...not just American show off.

Happy new year to you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought Fedor fought this fight well. He approached with caution, like anyone would against someone that humongous. He waited for an opening and landed a punch flush and went for the take down but unfortunately Hong-Man's body mass was too heavy even for Fedor to take down. So submission was the only resort and he finished it as should.

I wouldn't complain as long as Fedor is fighting again.

Anyone who disses Fedor here is a complete dumbass. Fedor has already proven himself as the best fighter in the world. Not just by his regular fans, but by MMA veterans and critics.

And F the UFC, i totally respect Fedor's decision not to sign. UFC does keep MMA mainly in the U.S. MMA should be exposed worldwide as to attract more up and coming fighters.
