Kevin Randleman has been battling a nasty staph infection, even life threatening, but he seems to be recovering nicely now. Heres a very graphic picture of the infection and the story. This fight is from Pride 25-Body Blow. Rampage lands a huge knee, followed by a viscious uppercut and then the finish follows. If you'll remember it was after this fight that Wanderlei came in the ring and shoved Jackson, one of my favorite moments in MMA.

That got pretty heated!
Hey Richard,
Are you able to find some of the Shooto fights from last night?
Hansen fought, as well as Inoue.
Thanks for the posts!
haha, rampage's expression when he got yellow carded was funny.
Also Richard,
Could you post Mark Kerr's fight from last night.
PS
hahahaha i love wand.
any insight on randleman having espn sponsorship on his trunks? that's something i actually never noticed or considered before, but it seems interesting...
Rampage said the funniest shit I've ever heard after his fight with Randleman...he described it as "black on black crime"...dude kills me with his commentary!
WOW, I've never seen this... Wand's cool...
WAR WAND!!!!
although the whole wandy jumping in the ring thing was entertaining, it was a little too WWF for my tastes.
hope wandy and rampage get into the cage soon. Rampage got destroyed in the second matchup, hope he has learned to protect himself from those knees. Thanks again for all your posts man.
wanderlei silva is a badass. I hope he beats liddell so that he fights jackson again.
that was awesome. i saw both fights, but didn't know these two hated each other that bad... i'm a wand fan (bit of patriotism doesn't hurt, eh), of course, but don't think he would beat rampage nowadays. let's see.
I gotta say something here. I have never been much into sports of any kind but have recently become a massive fan of MMA as I think it is quite literally the pinnacle of what humans attempt to achieve through athletics. Every dynamic that an athlete needs (save teamwork) is on full display in a MMA fight, including some that you won't find outside of a combat ring. All that said, This sport needs to grow the fuck up. That display of Wands was more fitted to pro wrestling than a real sport, and as long as fighters act like that then the masses will be happy to continue turning their noses in the air. IMO the ultimate goal for the sport should be to secure a place in the olympics. White isn't going to do that with reality shows and grudge matches. Wandy and Penn aren't going to do it by being macho. It will be true athletes like GSP that take it to the next level. /end rant.
bostriker,
Although I do agree with some of your points (the Wandy stunt was a little WWF), I disagree with some of the other stuff you had to say.
You are correct in saying that if MMA ever became an olympic sport, it would be a true sign that it is accepted and acknowledged as a real sport. However, to criticize Dana White and saying that reality shows won't help the cause is rediculous. As a matter of fact, TUF helped expose MMA to the masses and is one of the main reasons MMA is as popular as it is today. The Contender didn't hurt boxing did it?
You also criticize White for making grudge matches. People like to see grudge matches and pay to see them. If they didn't sell, he wouldn't make the matches. On top of that, grudge matches aren't exclusive to MMA. There are rivalries in all sports. Boxing has had tons of grudge matches and it was still made an olympic sport. Gurdge matches have nothing to do with the legitimacy of the sport.
And, although you are right that there are some fighters with macho attitudes in MMA, I don't feel that macho personalities hurt the sport as much as other things like steroid use. Plus, look at what Mike Tyson did for boxing. In his prime, Tyson made boxing as big as it ever was.
Jhova,
Thanks for the response. It's nice to be able to talk about these ideas some.
I think Mike Tyson is a good example. He made boxing much more popular when he was in his prime, knocking people out. And even though he was as prominent in the headlines in the later days of ear biting and court cases, it had a negative effect on the sport and it lost viewers.
And that is kinda my point concerning White and the way he markets UFC. Yeah TUF elevated it's polularity, amongst people who watch shows like TUF. But it marginalized the bulk of potential viewers who don't like reality shows, or grudge match storylines, or anything other than the pure sport.
While he's helping the UFC in the short run, I think he's missing the bigger picture by casting too small a net. The sport alone is more than enough to entertain. Stylizing it this way or that only serves to limits your audience. And I want to see MMA recognized worldwide so that the talent base continues to grow.
