Georges St. Pierre vs Jason "Mayhem" Miller

Jason Miller is hilarious, he has some of the craziest quotes this side of Quinton Jackson. He's also a great fighter, but to come in the UFC for the first time and have to face GSP, not exactly an easy task. This is an excellent fight.

How can you NOT like GSP?

I guess if you're a bible thumpin, Army lovin, midwesterner with hate for all things that aren't American...that might do it. (read: hard core Matt Hughes fan)

To me, GSP is the poster-boy for what MMA should be...well rounded fighter, excellent conditioning (he beat the shit out of Miller with a cold...hell, I sometimes don't go on sales calls if I have a cold!), and combined with his amazing physical attributes he's bi-lingual (thanking his fans in english), humble and a gentleman!

Good lord, that was impressive on both sides. Miller showed some kind of heart hanging in there after being force fed for 15 full minutes. As for GSP, I hope he never gets hesitant like he did against Serra. It's hard to imagine anyone beating him when he's on his game. A total alien.

Come on csreeves. You lose a lot of credibility in my books for your cheap shot at Matt Hughes.

If you go over to Hughes' website, you'll find GSP has a lot of respect with Hughes fans. But yet you can't extend Hughes the same courtesy?

I mean, it's not like Hughes did something like go into the cage after a GSP fight and tell him he wasn't impressed with GSP's performance. Oh yeah, that's what GSP did. It's not like Hughes has ever made excuses for getting KO'd in the first round by a guy he should have KO'd in the first round. Oh wait, GSP did that too. And it's not like Hughes has ever ducked a fight in his MMA career. GSP has done that to him twice.

Matt Hughes has a stellar MMA record. He has defended his belt over and over again. And in fact, is the only Welter Weight to successfully defend his title since Pat Militich did from 1999 to 2001 (Militich lost to Carlos Newton. Newton lost to Hughes his first time out. Hughes defended it five times before losing it to BJ. BJ never defended it, and Hughes won it back over GSP and fought four more times before losing it to GSP. GSP lost in his first title defence to Serra, and Serra has yet to get into the cage)

And when given the chance to pick his next opponent, Hughes went for the guy who beat him last. The guy who rocked him. He could have waited for Serra to get healthy. He could have picked an easier opponent. But he went for the best.

Come on, that has to earn him respect in your books.

I love it when some dude named "anonymous" takes issue with one of my posts...and questions MY credibility...hilarious!

I wasn't disrespecting Matt Hughes...but thanks for the diatribe. I simply asked a question...and then gave the rhetorical answer (obviously striking a chord).

I'm curious, did you watch Matt in either of his Ultimate Fighter Coaching appearances and think, "wow, here's a guy I'd like to emulate"...or..."this guy has the patience of Job"?

As a figher, Hughes has been undeniably fantastic. (there, does that win back some of that precious credibility?)

In regards to csreeves: people just love to debate with you, I sure did about Cung Le. And no, I didn't think you lost credability with you statements about Hughes, or even Cung Le for that manner.

My point is that healthy debate is important for developing an educated fan base with open minds, and that is what is needed for MMA to survive IMHO.

Richard Pauly (if I may refer to you in third-person) actually encourages this kind of debate, and for someone to get all pissy about another's opinion on the INTERNET is lame and quite counterproductive to one's peace of mind.

Keep up the history in the making, Richard. A bold statement, but I predict it to be true...You and your site will become recognized in the global mma community (at least on the nets) in one year from now if not sooner; but don't take that to Vegas if you know what I mean.

Also, thanks for posting MOST of my long-winded and sometimes ignorant comments.

essential, the phrase you were looking for was "for that matter"... you come across as somewhat anally retentive and the kind of perfectionist (the faultless use of capital letters) who would appreciate being corrected on such basic language misuse...

i dont like hughes for disrespecting gsp (laughing ringside and saying 'ilove it' after he was knocked out by serra)and admire gsp for the class he demonstrates in and out of the ring... he is almost as good a fighter as me... he should be one of the all time greats... i predict gsp vs anderson silva to be the best mma fight never to take place.

watch out for jake shields... beast
