Dana should let him go. I know a contract is a contract thing and all the politics, but Randy wants Fedor. Everyone wants to see Randy fight Fedor more than anything. It feels like Dana wants to say, "if it's not going to happen in the UFC, then it's not going to happen at all," and the since Randy vs Cro Cop, Wandy vs Chuck, and other dream fights won't probably ever happen. Then at the very least, let the fans have this one. LET RANDY GO!!!
Boo hoo Dana. Cry all you want. Randy's fighting Fedor in M1 because you're too stubborn to get it done.
I'm a fan of Dana. I appreciate him giving this interview. He knew it would be all about, bring the UFC down, they are taking over all the other sports ESPN has connections in.
"I'm a fan of dana..." LOSER!
dana equals big profit over quality fights and taking cash as a greater priority than the growth of the sport. UFC wants a monopoly. It makes me sick. UFC will ruin MMA if left unchecked.
so what happens if randy breaks his contract by fighting in another org (provided that dana is right that randy is still under contract w/ the ufc), can dana get the contract police on randy's ass, or something????
A contract is a contract. Period. Randy gave his word and should honor the four fights he has agreed to fight.
The UFC didn't have Fedor when Randy signed, he knew this, and he took the money anyway. For Randy to go now back on his word is brutal.
Sure, we all want to see a Randy vs. Fedor fight, and maybe Dana should let him go, but Randy shouldn't go "on strike" or leave the UFC just because a certain fightcard didn't happen. If that's the sole reason he's leaving the UFC than it's poor form from such a classy guy. Randy knew who was in the UFC when he signed up so why leave now?
Everyone knows the real reason Randy is leaving is because he's afraid of me. I'm the future of the UFC and after I punish Sylvia this weekend, the hype will all be about Vera vs. Couture or Vera vs. Fedor.
Out,
Brandon Vera
I agree with "Brendon Vera" (nice) A contract is a contract - so honour it. Also, why isn't anyone talking about Fedor in this whole thing? Is the guy tentative to fight Couture becuase they're both ground and pound specialists? Or because of the cage vs. the ring? Or the Russia vs. USA cold war thing? I just don't get it. Why hasn't he signed with the UFC? Sure, we all want to see Randy fight Fedor but Randy did sign-up with the UFC, and part of saying "yes" to the UFC is saying "no" to other leagues. That's how the game is played.
Anyways, we should all be more pissed with Fedor. It looks to me like he's dodging the fight and I can't figure out why.
when brandon vera gets his ass beat by silvia he will reveal that that want really his post. Also, if you believe dana "the chumpassho" bald eagle head white, then grow up, and realize the fighters are real and the suits just steal.
i love this website i saved it on my bookmarks, hope u update it with UFC 77 tonight
maybe dana should sign Fedors brother, so that Fedor gets pissed when his brother gets his ass beat.
Fedor is the best world warrior ever since Attila and Alexander magnum. There is no way at all (in this world) that couture (a great warrior) throws even a punch in fedor.
The Russian fighter’s are in did the beast in the world (not new)
They're going to have to fight Couture and Fedor on the moon so that Dana's contract doesn't apply, just like they did with Muhammed Ali and the Incredible Hulk. I'm not sure why no one has brought this up?
Also, when Couture beats Fedor, they should probably arrange a fight between Randy and the 6 Million dollar man, who's aging but still pretty good and mostly unbeaten in the underground MMA scene.
As much as I'd love to see Fedor-Couture, Dana makes a very strong argument. The guy is under contract, simple as that. Unless there is some clause or another compelling why he should not honor his contract, Randy is obligated to stay with the UFC. I totally agree with Dana about Couture's people totally approaching Randy's concerns the wrong way. Very Hollywood, and not very professionally.
On the other hand, it was clear Dana was avoiding the question about Randy's compensation, instead choosing to just say that the UFC respects all their fighters. He is still an egomaniac that screwed things over with Fedor, but he happens to right this time.
How do we know that he screwed things up with Fedor? What if Fedor's people were being completely unrealistic and thought that Fedor's hype was bigger than it really is?
UFC is a business and Dana is in the business of making money. He has to. If he doesn't the whole thing goes belly up. Look at Pride. Everything us ultimately a business decision (make the fans happy, make the fighters happy, make money). So if those three aspects aren't jiving he has to make hard decisions. I do have the feeling that he might have been playing hardball because he thought that Fedor was going to have to come back to the UFC because it was the only game around, but no one really knows that.
Also, Couture is a class act, but this move of his isn't classy at all, which makes me believe Dana when he says that it's hollywood agents. Randy signed a contract. If he wasn't happy with it then he shouldn't have signed it. That's pretty simple and Dana is in the right. He's also right when he says that the UFC will continue without Couture. MMA fans, at the core, love the sport. They still go to fight night when Couture isn't fighting, each fighter has a unique story and as the sport grows, so will more upcoming talents enter into the ring. Couture juniors.
yes vera you really whopped him you tha man, lmao dont talk that shit and fuckin hug all day. if you would have kicked him all day you would have had him much respect cause you on t.v and im not but other than you lost cause you wanted to.
Dana is soo disrespectful to someone who built his sport and is one of the biggest public figures in all of MMA. God they need new management
