I was just browsing through the new sherdog.com rankings. At lightweight Gomi stands as number 1 in the world and then you see Penn down at number 9! Anyways Im not gonna complain about it, they have their opinion and I have mine. Of course he moves up in weight sometimes, but at 155 pounds Penn is the best in the world and thats all im gonna say. This fight is from Rumble on the Rock IV. Enjoy the Fight. Sorry I couldnt find english announcers.

The pride vs ufc rankings have always annoyed the hell out me.
BJ just isn't what he used to be,he's a has been. He was so great back in the day.
that fight is from like 4 years ago, it shouldn't have much of an effect on rankings today.
I agree with the above poster. The reason why BJ isn't ranked higher in the LW rankings is because the only LW he has beaten in the last 4 years is Jens Pulver who isn't even ranked. The fact that he beat Gomi 4 years ago means nothing in terms of current rankings.
Now you could make the arguement that BJ is a better fighter than Gomi but that doesn't mean he should be ranked higher. Rankings are based on recent accomplishments in their respective divisions.
This is why many people now consider Anderson Silva the #1 ranked p4p fighter over Fedor. Because Fedor hasn't been fighter top tier competition for the past year and half or so. His last quality opponent was Mark Hunt.
So is BJ a better fighter than Gomi? I think so. Would BJ beat Gomi in a rematch if it were to happen today? He probably would. Should BJ be ranked higher than Gomi in the LW rankings? No, because of his inactivity in the division in recent years.

BJ WAS A BETTER FIGHTER THEN GOMI BACK THEN, NOW? I'LL BE FAIR AND SAY..WHO KNOWS UNTIL THEY IF EVER FIGHT AGAINST EACH OTHER AGAIN. GOMI IS A DIFFERENT FIGHTER IN TERMS OF EXPERIENCE AND WHAT HE'S GONE THROUGH TO BE ON TOP.
REMATCH, I REALLY DONT THINK BJ CAN TAKE GOMI JUST BECAUSE GOMI IS GOMI. THEN GOMI WASNT KNOWN FOR WHAT HE DOES BEST..KO KO KO..NOW BJ HAS TO RESPECT THE FACT THAT HE CAN GET KO LIKE EVERYONE THAT'S BEEN TRYING TO STOP GOMI DID. GOMI ALL THE WAY!!! REMEMBER A YEAR OFF WITHOUT A FIGHT AND BOOM KO LUDWIG.
