MMA Video -Bill O'Reilly Interviews Dana White and Rich Franklin- Stupidity at its Finest

God I hate Bill O'Reilly. Again someone with no knowledge of the sport condemns it. Heres the video of him interviewing Dana White and Rich Franklin, completely stepping on their toes and mixing up facts.

Interesting how O'Reilly spends the first few minutes with the assumption that money must be the only motivator for someone to want to be an athelete - even in a violent sport and even when the guy said it was a childhood dream to be an athelete. Probably says something about Bill.

However, it seems that the study Bill cited in the British journal and Mr. White have a different opinion as to what constitues a serious injury. And, quite frankly, concussions are serious and do, in many instances, lead to some form of permenant cognitive disability. But hey, in a culture that prizes the physical over mental abilities, it's no wonder that concussions, brain injuries, and other head trauma are ignored and not considered that big a deal.

I would agree that concussions are seriuos, but unlike in MMA, boxers may take over 100 shots to the head. Gloves or no gloves thats gotta be more damage than most MMA fights.

Although it needs to be replicted to confirm/falsify, the study O'Reilly quoted from suggests that the UFC fighters incur 3x more concussions.

On that single measure alone, the UFC fighters are taking more damage. But aggregate all the kinds of hurt you can get in boxing or UFC, and you're probably right that boxers get an overall worse deal.

I don't totally agree that concussions alone constitute as serious injuries, but, multiple concussions most definitely do...and I would be willing to bet that there are more multiple concussed athletes in professional boxing than in any MMA sports. But really that's neither here nor there for me, all I really wanted to say on this post is that Bill O'Reilly is extremely douchey and someone needs to shut him up just like the 16 year old kid from Boulder HS did a couple months ago.

Why can't someone defend their position without insulting the other side? You'll get a lot more respect for your opinion if you don't call someone a "douchey." Grow up. If you like the sport and want to defend it, use your brain and leave all the insults with 6-year-olds in the school playground.

Gloved Boxing is more dangerous then ultimate fighting in the same way it's more dangerous than bare knuckle boxing. The gloves allow boxers to take far more blows to the head without getting knocked out. All those blows cause the brain to move around. When the brain moves enough you get knocked out.

Ultimate fighting inflicts pain to parts of the body nowhere near as serious as the brain.

Do the research.

Bill is just trying to create a problem to support his opinion ... It was obvious he did none of the research, I would bet the first time he saw it was on his teleprompter.

He did get his start in tabloid journalism after all .... Where you do not actually need facts to report ... Obviously not much has changed in Bill's career ;)

People would be amazed at how intelligent you have to be to even understand the physics and processes to putting in submissions and strikes. Half of the mma fighters have a larger iq than bill o reilly, guaranteed.
