Wanderlei Silva vs Rampage Jackson 1- "The Rivalry Begins"

The fight that started the rivalry. A barrage of knees are too much for Rampage. Silva fights like a caged animal, you can tell they truly dont like each other. I will post the second fight tommorow.

its unfortunate that you cannot knee or kick to the head of a downed opponent by ufc rules, i think that is bull. ground kicks/knees are punishment for lay and pray and reckless take down attempts

it would also raise the danger levels of MMA significantly.
Think of how damaging it already is - fighter suspensions for injury, broken bones, etc.

Just because Pride didn't broadcast the way they treated their fighters doesn't mean it was good. It's bad, really bad, to get stomped, etc. Career ending/death.

fighting is dangerous but thats why we watch pride was a more natural way to fight

Even in Muay Thai you can knee and kick to the head of a kneeling opponent, their arse has to be on the deck before they're out of bounds, and I agree that it can be a bit of a cop-out for some guys to kneel down after a half arsed takedown atempt and avoid the punishment

Fighting is fighting, and these athletes know what they are getting into. When an NFL star breaks his neck, god forbid, nobody criticizes the sport because it's dangerous. Football and hockey result in far more injuries than all of the different MMA organizations combined! Sh*t happens in every sport, and that what MMA is a sport, so lets just enjoy what we pay so much money, so these athletes get paid well, to watch!

That standup by the ref was garbage.

I came in here thinking rampage was gonna get owned the way people talk about this fight. Rampage never had a chance of winning. The referee was obviously there to do whatever he could to make rampage lose. No wonder most of these pride fighters suck. They cheat there way to victory. Oh well there getting what they deserve in UFC.

Football analogy was retarded, as their are helmet to helmet, chop block, and other personal foul infraction to protect players. Same goes w/ all other contact sports. MMA is no different. For mainstream acceptance, must protect the athletes who will bring it to that level. Dana has it pretty close to perfect with UFC rules in my opinion, which is why it will dominate mainstream. I like Pride as well, but I understand how logically people look at Pride and do not accept the sport and why fighters do not fight in Pride once another organization picks them up

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... THE BRAZILLIAN RULES!!!!! FUCK THEM ALL!!!

All these comments about how minimal rules allowed Wanderlei to win! What about the stand up? Rampage would have clearly won if not for the bullshit stand up. The fight goes where it goes.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU!! I'm a huge UFC fan and to find a site like yours is a dream come true Best site I have found to date !

That stand-up was bull. If a fighter can take another down and keep him there, then that's where the fight ought to be. Rampage was working on the top and Wanderlei didn't do anything to get out.

Why are you all bitching about the standup when they had a rematch where Rampage got KTFO even more badly

r u fucking serious....Pride deff. wanted silva to win wtf was that standup issued......both fighters were trying to better there position plus rampage was doing damage from in the guard.

the stand up may have been bad but that is why we have rematches and look what happened. also, lots of pride fighter coming into the UFC are doing pretty bad but three of them are champs so they in a way have dominated.

it is supposed to be dangerous, but its also not good for the organizations money if their prized fighters get so injured they cant fight and rake them in the money

I'm glad UFC took out head stomps and those brutal career ending knees to a downed fighter. First of all it is just ruthless and if you need to take those drastic measures to win then you need to train harder on other areas of all MMA.

The head stomps are just sickening and so are you people who like watching a man get his cocunut smashed almost to the point of bursting.

Oh well... it will NEVER be allowed in the US and probably never in any MMA ever again. So you "Pride Fans" can go sit at your computer desk and keep re-watching old Pride tapes while the rest of us move on...
